About hdh
I have been telling stories for over 40 years and writing forever. I am a retired teacher and storyteller. I hope to expand upon my repertoire and use this blog as a place to do writing. The main purpose is to give me and others that choose to comment, a space in which to play with issues that deal with storytelling, storytelling ideas, storytelling in education, reactions to events, and just plain fun stories. I explore some of my own writing throughout, from character analysis, to fictional, to poetry, and personal stories. I go wherever my muse sends me. Enjoy!

But They Only Check Out Books? As school districts look to cut costs, in our tax capped society their priority is not to cut programs. At least, that is what they espouse. They look to make cuts that will least … Continue reading →
Knapsacks and Keyboarding I have always been a kind of rebel. Not in the rowdy, disrespectful, wild kind. But one that doesn’t always follow the norm. I always tried new things, not to be intentionally different; I just wanted to … Continue reading →

Uncle Itch I was invited by a school district to do a storytelling performance with the theme being family history/memories. At first, I was going to decline the opportunity, since I didn’t have any stories about either. But I changed my … Continue reading →
Hans Christian Andersen In 1981, when the Middle School, where I had taught 6th grade, asked me to be in their musical play, “Hans Christian Andersen” as the lead character, I was a little hesitant. First, I had never acted … Continue reading →
